I don't care that my recordings don't sound huge and professional-studio-worthy. I grew up listening to underground metal demos, and copies of copies of tapes. That stuff sounds good to my ears. Most of my favorite albums, were home recordings done by the artists themselves or very low budget recordings. Usually, they sound very honest and organic. It seems, to me at least, that the best emotions and mood are captured this way. So, I suppose that's why I can't stand the sound of many new albums, especially if recorded at a real studio. Everything is clinically scoured of every last bit of dynamics and emotion in the quest for the most error-free recording.
